Consecutive patients with laboratory-confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection admitted to the Public Health Clinical Centre of Chengdu and West China Hospital, Sichuan University, between 16 January and 10 March 2020. Both institutions are certified covid-19 tertiary care hospitals and designated hub centres within Sichuan province.

Laboratory-confirmed cases were defined by a positive result on high-throughput sequencing or real-time reverse-transcriptase–PCR assay of nasal and/or pharyngeal swabs
