Consecutive patients presenting to 14 hospitals in Zhejiang province with confirmed COVID-19 by positive RT-PCR assay

A total of 610 COVID-19 patients were enrolled after admission from various centers in the Zheijiang province (Figure 1). A population-based cohort from the Zhejiang province consisting of 48,667 adults with health records was used as controls. The descriptive characteristics, comorbidities and use of medication available in both cases and controls were compared

The diagnosis of COVID-19 was made in accordance with the Guidelines for the Diagnosis and Treatment of New Coronavirus Pneumonia (fifth edition) formulated by the National Health Commission of the People's Republic of China. Confirmed case of Covid-19 was defined as a positive result on real-time reverse transcriptase–polymerase-chain-reaction (RT-PCR) assay of nasal and pharyngeal swab specimens. Only laboratory-confirmed cases were included in the study.
