Overall 11 case-series, published either in Chinese or English language with a total of 2002 cases were included in the study.

Pooling the clinical data of the 11 studies included in this meta-analysis resulted in a total of 2002 patients, 334 meetings the definition of severe Covid-19. Out of the 11 studies, one study reported only on the smoking history16, and four others reported only on the presence of COPD. The rest of the studies reported both, the smoking history and the presence of COPD.
